The JetStream DR Capacity Planning Tool (“CPT”) estimates required DR resources, defines protected domains, and shows consumption of resources by the protected VMs and DR appliances. It also generates several "protection plans” to automate various DR processes: Start Protection, Start Continuous Failover, On-demand Failover, and Failback.

    • CPT is distributed as a part of the JetStream Tools delivery package (jstools.ova). CPT includes a graphical user interface (GUI) and individual scripts that can be executed from the command line.
      • The GUI enables users to interactively operate CPT.
      • Command line scripts allow direct control of CPT and offer a broader range of functionality than the GUI.
    • CPT is used at both the protected site and the recovery site.
      • Functionality of CPT differs depending upon the site where it is used and other conditions specific to the site configuration.
    • In addition to its planning and reporting functions, CPT can be used to execute multi-step CPT generated protection plans.
